Load Testing and Stress Testing
|
|
The greatest IT challenge a company faces is how to size and scale its systems prior to committing and deploying the solution. Poor load and stress capabilities result in costly downtime to your business, damaged company reputation and decreased customer satisfaction.
Load Testing
Load testing is used to test the capacity, end-user response time, server scalability, bandwidth utilisation, and load parameters of an application. Load testing also helps Tescom identify bottlenecks and interactions with other systems.
Tescom’s experts work with the client to identify the requirements and establish the parameters for the load testing. Tescom has the capability to test remotely from our remote load test facility or to work alongside the client.
Insufficient load testing can lead to system crashes, or website outages if you have too many visitors than your site can handle. Either of these scenarios can lead to loss of business and loss of customer trust.

Stress Testing
Stress testing is used to determine how an application behaves when under an unreasonable load or when it does not have the resources (such as RAM or interrupts) to manage the load.
The purpose of stress testing is to tax the system to a “breaking point” to find bugs that could be potentially harmful. Stress testing is used to ensure that data is not corrupted or lost in the event of such a failure. This kind of testing is vital for Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery planning.
Tescom’s Load Testing and Stress Testing Solutions
- Approximate number of users an application can realistically support, both current and anticipated
- Measure end user response time for key transactions and various user load levels
- Identify performance bottlenecks
- Analyze infrastructure components (CPU, bandwidth, memory, I/O etc.)
- Use data modeling to estimate flexibility and scalability of applications
- Measure performance boundaries and failure behavior of each component
- Submit detailed statistical reports of system performance
- Observe performance-under-load to allow Subject Matter Experts to make recommendations on how to upscale and improve performance
