Usability Testing

Usability testing measures how easily a system may be used, the accessibility of its functions to a user, its cultural compatibility, and the many other factors which influence people’s perceptions of the system.

Poor usability can result in loss of sales, negative branding and increased support costs while good usability can significantly increase usage, sales and brand image. According to Forrester research, usability is key in design priorities and success metrics, especially with internet based products and services.

Tescom’s methodology for Usability Testing contains two complimentary processes:

  • The “Expert Review” or Heuristic Evaluation identifies usability risks and determines the potential overall impact that usability has on the success of a product.

  • The “Formal Usability Test” examines the product through the users’ eyes. Tescom identifies the users’ expectations and perceptions while the product is in use. This resolves problems relating to ease of learning, ease of error recovery, ergonomics (UI/GUI) and the perceived subjective usefulness of the product to the customer.

A cross-functional observation team uncovers any critical usability issues and recommends improvements to reach usability readiness. Our approach decreases support and implementation costs while simultaneously increasing user productivity, satisfaction and revenue.
